Texture Maps of Steuben Park
A studio project exploring novel ecosystems and polyphonic assemblage through a cross-disciplinary design practice.
The process is informed by sympoeisis, the act of “creating with” the natural world. The image-based narratives are created by documenting natural textures to map 10 locations in a local park.
Each map displays a visual journey of attention to detail, and the subtle, defining idiosyncrasies of a park in Brooklyn. Found textures are layered sequentially to generate maps of wandering paths that look different each time.
Prints, matte finish.
8.5 x 11, 17 x 22, 34 x 44
